A diverse coalition of Alaskans launched the statewide campaign, Alaska's Future, to promote a long-term solution to the state's budget challenge Tuesday at the Mountain View Community Center in Anchorage.

Alaska's Future co-chairs include civic entrepreneur Eleanor Andrews, Vince Beltrami (of the Alaska AFL-CIO), Ron Duncan (of the telecommunications company GCI), former state Sen. Steve Frank, former Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles, Cook Inlet Region Inc. CEO Sophie Minich, and NANA Development Corp. President Helvi Sandvik.

The group has already met with lawmakers in Juneau, and is encouraging citizens to contact legislators to encourage them to use earning from the Permanent Fund to address the state's budget crisis.
