Halloween happenings for the family – and for adults only

The scariest day of the month falls on Wednesday this year with plenty of celebrations carrying the holiday from the weekend through the end of the month. Even if you're scared of the cold, there are plenty of indoor celebrations for you to bite into.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVENTS FOR YOUNG SUPERHEROES AND VILLAINS

Trunk or Treat and Halloween Pipe Organ Mini-Concerts — Kids of all ages are invited to hear Halloween music on the Fritts Pipe Organ. Concerts are every half-hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will last 15-20 minutes. The Anchorage Lutheran Church will also have trunk or treating in the parking lot. American Legion Halloween Party — Both kids and adults will get the chance to party the night away with a divided party schedule. Haunted Halloween Fun Night — Forget the cold and stay inside for this indoors trick-or-treating event. The Haunted Halloween Fun Night is hosted by UAA clubs and organizations and it raises funds for those respective clubs or for a chosen charity. Halloween Nature Walk "Open House" — Families with children are invited to visit a series of fun (perhaps even creepy and gross) and educational Halloween-themed stations set up along the Rodak Nature Trail (3/4-mile round trip). Zoo Boo on Halloween — Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Enjoy spooky trails and nearby animals in this Halloween twist on the Alaska Zoo. Halloween Party at Shockwave — What's more shocking than a bouncy house night of fun in costume. Shockwave will have spooky music, candy and costume contests. Halloween at the Museum — Don't just see the art, be the art while wearing your costume to the museum. There will be trick-or-treating in the galleries, story time and a special planetarium show. Fright Night Haunted House —  This haunted house spans around 10,000 square feet and takes about 15-25 minutes to adventure through. Willy Wonka Halloween — Focus less on the tricking and more on the treating with this candy shop setting. Little Pumpkins Halloween Party — Let your little pumpkin's light shine by avoiding the crowds and PG-13 costumes. This event will include music for babies and toddlers with no monsters in sight. Trick or Treat Street — Brave the cold and the monsters in this trick-or-treating event in downtown Anchorage. Bird TLC's Owl-O-Ween Celebration — Join Bird TLC and their parliament of live owls (as well as a raven and two crows) as they celebrate the spirit of Halloween. Mighty Monster Boo Fest — If you like Halloween and you love beer, this event is perfect for you. The Mighty Matanuska Brewfest will have feature beers from local and state brewers including 49th State Brewing Co., Denali Brewing Co., Glacier Brewhouse and more. Halloween at Sitzmark — This may not be one of the scariest events hitting Alaska this week, but the Sitzmark will showcase the Young Dubliners as they get ready for their 2018 U.S. summer tour. The band has released eight albums with original content and they are working on a new album now. Halloween Dog Party — Why leave all the fun to the humans when the dogs want to trick-but-mostly-treat in costume as well.
