Letter: Fear-free vacations

A big, big thank-you to everyone who has been staying home or wearing masks and respecting distances when out. We have done an awesome job fighting the virus compared to most the rest of the country.

It gave me an idea: What if we tried really hard to get cases down to zero for two weeks? At the end, not only could we enjoy each other’s company, we could also market to high-end clientele who want a virus-free vacation. They either stay in a luxury hotel for a 14-day quarantine before touring Alaska in a normal way, or we obtain enough tests for every Outsider who comes and they only have to quarantine for a couple days while the results come back. I bet people would pay a lot for a fear-free vacation!

It would take us all working together to do it, but when it comes to it, Alaskans excel at willpower and helping each other out for the common good.
