Letter: Trump’s trial

When is a senator not a senator? When he or she is a juror. For the second time in recent history, our U.S. senators will assume the duty of becoming jurors in former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

As jurors, they should be expected to weigh their decisions solely on the merits of the evidence presented in the trial, not according to political leanings. Donald Trump should get a fair trial, and the results of that trial should reflect the evidence presented and the outcome should be equal to the crime, or lack thereof. To vote otherwise is tantamount to jury tampering and should be acted on as such. I await the verdicts of our senators from Alaska.
