The All-Conference selections for Cook Inlet Conference basketball were revealed late Wednesday night with Bartlett's Bentiu Panoam and Dimond's Alissa Pili taking home MVP honors.
Also honored was Panoam's coach, Steve Drussell, who was named the boys' coach of the year. Paul VanLandingham of South earned coaching honors on the girls' side.
Panoam and Drussell led the Bartlett boys to a 10-4 conference record and the No. 3 seed in next week's CIC tournament.
Panoam came on strong late in the season with a 40-point performance in a 97-86 upset win over East on Feb. 17. The 6-foot-2 senior also twice exceeded 30 points in January games.
Pili, a 5-10 double-double machine, had a monster 29-point, 17-rebound game in a Feb. 20 win over Chugiak. Her strong freshman season helped Dimond to a perfect 14-0 CIC record and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
VanLandingham led South to an 8-6 CIC record — a great improvement over the team's' losing record last season. The Wolverines are the No. 4 seed in the CIC tournament.
The CIC tournament begins Wednesday at West High and concludes with Saturday championship games at 5:15 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
The top two teams from the boys and girls tournaments will clinch spots in the Class 4A state tournament.
