Rivalry doubleheader ends with victories for ACS girls, Grace boys

ACS girls 53, Grace 36

The Anchorage Christian girls basketball team remained undefeated in conference play Tuesday by breezing past crosstown rival Grace Christian 53-36.

Jordan Todd and Destiny Reimers combined for 30 points to spark the Lions, who improved to 10-0 in the Southcentral Conference and 17-2 on the season. Todd scored 16 points and Reimers had 14.

Sarah Laker's 16 points and Annie VanderWeide's 12 topped Grace Christian, which trailed 17-8 after the first quarter at ACS.

Grace boys 51, ACS 35

The Grace Christian boys beat ACS 51-35 Monday thanks to 20 points from Tobin Karlberg and a big third quarter.

Fueled by Brogan Nieder's eight points, the Grizzlies outscored ACS 18-9 in the third quarter to pull away from a five-point halftime lead.

Nieder and Jimmy McGovern both finished with 12 points for Grace Christian, which outscored ACS 18-0 from 3-point range. Karlberg sank three triples and Nieder had two.
