Naciuk leads UAA alpine skiers with 6th-place finish in slalom

Tony Naciuk's sixth-place finish in the men's slalom at the Utah Invitational was the top finish for UAA skiers, who competed in two meets Saturday. Nordic skiers raced in freestyle races at the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman.

Naciuk posted a two-run time of 1 minute, 48.42 seconds. Also scoring top-20 results for the Seawolves were seniors Hughston Norton (11th, 1:49.30) and Curtis McKillop (16th, 1:49.99).

Alix Wells was the top UAA woman in 22nd with a time of 1:55.25.

In Montana, Hailey Swirbul — who a week earlier earned a spot on the U.S. team headed to the World Junior Championships — garnered an 11th-place finish to lead UAA in the women's 5K freestyle in 16:43. Next for UAA were Casey Wright in 17th (16:48.4) and Natalie Hynes in 21st (17:08.6).

Pietro Mosconi topped the UAA men in the 10K freestyle with a 19th-place finish in 29:14.2. Toomas Kollo finished 16 seconds later in 21st.

The Seawolves finished the Utah Invitational in sixth place. They sit in sixth in Montana after six events. That meet continues Sunday with the classic races.
