Letter: Ukuleles in the classroom

What a truly great story about ukuleles, teens and the East High School music teacher!

When Kiel Schweitzer was quoted as saying he spent 20 hours arranging a medley of five Beyoncé songs, at first I thought, “Wow! How wonderful is that!” My second thought was, “Did Mr. Schweitzer receive copyright permission to use those songs?” They are definitely not in public domain.

If he did not receive permission, he is stealing from the livelihood of the composers. If this is the case, he is a poor example for his students. Using without permission is against the law… no matter how worthy the cause.
